INFRASTRUCTURE
Power
Electricity is provided by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and is distributed locally by Tri-State EMC and Blue Ridge Mountain EMC. Fannin County is part of TVA’s modern integrated electrical transmission system with reliability service using redundant transmission. TVA offers competitve rates and incentive programs with an excellent ability to supply industrial demands.
Water & Sewer
Water and sewer service is provided by the cities of Blue Ridge and McCaysville. The City of Blue Ridge has a water and sewer capacity of 1 million gal./day. The City of McCaysville has a 1 million gal./day water capacity and a reciprocal agreement with the City of Copperhill, Tenn. for sewer service. The City of Morganton has a water capacity of 500,000 gal./day.
Natural Gas
Atlanta Gas Light is currently installing natural gas lines beginning at the Gilmer/Fannin County line on Sugar Creek Rd. From Sugar Creek Rd., the gas line will follow Scenic Dr. to Davis Rd. to Highway 5, and deposit into Highway 515.
Advanced Telecommunication Support
Ellijay Telephone Company (ETC), TDS Telecom, Blue Ridge Mountain EMC, and AT&T provide local telecommunications service. Fannin County stands well-positioned to provide the level of connectivity, reliability, and overlap necessary to allow a small manufacturing company or shared service center client not only to survive, but also to thrive in this vibrant North Georgia community. The area’s providers offer multiple overlapping high speed fiber optic networks. While at first blush the community appears to be small, they have the ability to provide telecom and broadband services on par with much larger metropolitan areas, a competitive advantage used to surprise prospects with.
Transportation
Fannin County is conveniently located 90 miles north of Atlanta and 80 miles southeast of Chattanooga, Tenn. The area is easily accessed via four lane Georgia Highway 575/515, US 76 and Georgia Highway 2, 5, 60 and 60 Spur.
Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is only 95 miles from Blue Ridge. Local airports include Blairsville Regional Airport (20 miles), Martin Campbell Airport (17 miles) located in Copperhill, Tenn., and an Andrew/Murphy, North Carolina airport (35 miles). The area is also served by local freight carriers.
